March 2010 - Certificate course for "Edelbrandsommelier"

The success of the Zillertal distillers made in recent years headlines far beyond the borders of the district. However, in order to increase the quality of the Zillertal spirits even further, Bettina Eberharter of Mayrhofen, Martin Fankhauser of Schwendau and Armin Fankhauser of Tux followed the course to become a certified "Edelbrandsommelier". And with success!!. And so it is not surprising that the three named before are the first exclusive "Edelbrandsommeliers" in the Zillertal and thus act as excellent ambassadors of the region. The aim of the course was to raise awareness among consumers for rural specialties. Not only the perfect implementation of tastings and  targeted public relations has been brought closer to the 15 participants, but also the often neglected drinking glasses and drinking culture, which both contibute much to the success of the spirits. As the first certified "Edelbrandsommeliers" of the Zillertal these three, in cooperation with the tourismorganisation, hotels, restaurants and many other regional bodies present typical farm products to the customer next to the noble spirits. For example, the joint final project: The first Zillertal Gletscherbrand (glacier fire). They carry the spirits culture around and over the regions - true noble.

 Februar 2010 „AB HOF WIESELBURG“ 2010

More than 33,000 visitors were interested in the offers of the direct-marketing farmers during this special exhibition The internationality of both the exhibitors and visitors  shows very clearly that this exhibition - even after 15
years - has undivided interest. The proportion of direct exhibitors from abroad was this year also at just under 20%. On the visitor side were groups from Sweden, Poland, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Slovakia ... and from all Austrian federal states. Accordingly positive were the reactions of the exhibitors, who reported both in the bids for trade visitors and consumers of a very good development.

Products from all over Austria and neighboring countries such as Germany, Italy and Hungary were tasted and judged by a panel of experts in advance of the fair AB HOF Wieselburg. Of the 1327 spirits the "Original Zillertaler Bergheubrand Apfel" convinced clearly and thus secured the distiller from Schwendau Martin "Stiegenhauser" Fankhauser's the "Golden Mug". "That the Heubrand is something special was clear since the Krapfenfest in Schwendau in August 2009," smiles the newly crowned "Stamperlkönig" from Schwendau, Martin Fankhauser. And he is probably right.

Although it was, given the imaginative dishes such as organic bananas or cheese liqueur, not an easy game for the Zillertal specialty. But, as also in the Destillata 2007 to 2009 it was the genuine honesty of the products from the Stiegenhaushof that led ultimately to the noble results. Martin Fankhauser won with his three "Einreichproben" at AB HOF two bronze and one gold medal and the "Golden Mug" in its category. Besides the many awards the young distiller scores especially through his commitment to the products from his home region - the Zillertal. To him it is important that only pure materials are usedand fermented. This is also shown by his tademark "echt" which means "real". He has genuinly deserves, the real "Golden Mug," which he could officially accept on the 26th of February 2010.

16th november 2007 - 13th Tirolean Spirits Awards of the LK Tirol

13 years ago the LK Tirol started with awards and education to improve the quality of Tirolean Schnaps permanently. In the mean time a true cult has developped itself surrounding the distilling of schnaps. In many agriculture businesses schnaps is distilled again. Many of the distilling rights are still from the era of Maria Theresia. The rating of the 674 schnaps- and liquorprobes from 163 distillers was done by an expert jury. The pure products of the Tirolean schnapsdistillers and the unique „Tiroler Schnapsflasche“ with the new box (Quality Tirol) were truly in the limelight.
